FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a hybrid homeschool program?

Our program is a partnership between parents and teachers. New content is taught on campus Mondays and Wednesdays, and teachers give assignments to be completed at home (or on campus) on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

What is the parent's responsibility?

Parents of M-W-F students are responsible for supporting and helping students complete their assignments on home days. This may include discussing content, helping them find resources, and communicating with teachers if any questions or concerns arise.

What is your teaching philosophy?

We blend many different philosophies, borrowing ideas from Charlotte-Mason, Montessori, and Waldorf. We value nature, collaboration, and highly individualized instruction, creating an academically excellent program where children love to learn.

Are you accredited?

No, we are not accredited. We are a hybrid homeschool where parents partner with teachers in educating their children. We do align our instruction to follow state TEKS and guidelines as a minimum standard.

How are children grouped?

Since instruction is tailored to each individual student, they will be placed in groups based on learning level and not age. They will also be learning with some students slightly above and below their level, fostering mentorship and peer learning. Learn more about multi-age group learning and how our teachers make it happen here.

Are tests given?

Although testing is not the focus of our curriculum, we do from time to time test students to make sure they have mastered the content. This may be done in a formal or informal setting. Results are communicated with parents and learning is adjusted to ensure all content is mastered. Hear more about mastery learning in this TED talk by Sal Khan.

Do you offer tutoring?

Yes, tutoring is available at an additional cost. This can be arranged with your teacher and tailored to your student‘s changing needs.

What do students do after 8th grade?

There are several exciting options around our community for your students as they continue into high school. Please talk with Mandi Westfall for more information.
